The do's and don'ts of teaching. They seem so simple yet many times we forget to follow them. The top six keys of being a successful teacher is having a sense of humor, a positive attitude, high expectations, consistency, fairness, and, being flexible. At first glance these seem very easy to achieve but when you add stress, being tired, and very hyper children, these can seem very challenging. Because we all want to be successful teachers and make a difference in children's lives, I think that it is a good idea to always keep these keys in mind and maybe put them up somewhere in the classroom where we can see them everyday to remind us of how to be the best teacher we can be.
The top 10 worst things that teachers can do seems pretty easy as well. Avoid smiling, becoming friends, stopping lesson to confront students, humiliate students, yell, give your control to students, treat students differently because of likes and dislikes, create unfair rules, gossip and complain about other teachers, and be inconsistent. All of these seem like something that teachers would never want to do but they all happen. Sometimes when we are caught up in the moment, we forget that 30 eyes are watching are every move and really looking up to us. I think that being aware of the things not to do as a teacher will help us remember, even in hard situations, what is appropriate and what is not as a teacher.
